Board members present: Donna Crossman, Loren Gettelman, Jane Licht, Sharon Makurat, Myrna Rhinehart, Tom Smiley. Absent: Roger Houk, Marilyn Radtke.
The meeting was called to order at 7:50 p.m. by President Donna Crossman, Jane Licht moved to approve the Secretary's Report, Tom Smiley seconded. MC
In the absence of Marilyn Radtke, Donna gave the Treasurer's Report. There is $661.61 in the checkbook/savings, $8659.13 in CDs, for a total of $9320.74. Sharon Makurat moved to approve, Jane Licht seconded. MC
Jane Licht moved to transfer $500 to checking. Sharon Makurat. MC
Historian Report: Loren will work on it soon. He needs copies of newsletters that he doesn't have. Board members will help assemble the albums when the time comes. There are a number of photos that need the people identified. Will hopefully have a process for identification at the Annual Meeting.
We have not printed a membership directory because of the cost. We discussed getting a password protected membership directory on the website.
Old Business:
Silver Anniversary Committee - Didier drive. Fabulous turnout. Thanks to Roger and Dana for bringing the cake and to Didiers for hosting. Jane has the pins. She took an inventory of everybody who didn't get pins who were at the other drives. There are more available for $7.00 a piece. There are tote bags for people who volunteer at the Midwest Horse Fair booth, and will be for sale at the Annual Meeting. There are pins in the bin to wear at the Horse Fair.
Young Drivers Camp - Sharon Makurat told about a facility outside of Burlington that she went to see for the YDC. Myrna gave an update of what the committee has been discussing recently. The next meeting will be Dec. 1, 6:30 p.m. at Licht's house.
Nominations - Jane typed up a sample ballot including the candidates for the Board of Directors. There are nine people running for eight positions. These will be printed up for the Annual Meeting. Donna will introduce candidates at the meeting.
Insurance for 2009 events - in the absence of Marilyn and Roger, we tabled this topic until the pre-Annual meeting.
Website Report: Jane reported on updates to the sidebars. She added information on the Annual Meeting, updated the classified ads, and added information on the candidates for the Board of Directors. There are photos on the website of the drives.
Coachman Report: Jane has it all ready to go after the minutes are done. Next edition will have information about the new people on the board, the drives planned for 2009, and new classified ads. Members who want ads should send them to Jane by email.
Mischka calendar: Mischkas are again graciously willing to provide DDC members with driving horse calendars for $9.00. Donna will handle the process of collecting money and ordering. Need to be ordered by Dec. 1.
New Business:
Pins for Larsons - Sharon Makurat moved that Lowell and Carolyn Larson be given anniversary pins for organizing the Old World drive for a number of years. Loren Gettelman 2nd. MC
Annual Meeting - the board will meet at 2:30 p.m. before the Annual Meeting.

Electronic Newsletter - It costs roughly $285 an issue to produce and mail. Having the newsletter electronically for members who have that capability would drastically cut down on costs.
