Old Business:

Website domain name – There is a $20/yr. fee to have the .org website. We have .com right now. The websites would be linked or redirected so that only one site needs to be maintained. Haviza moved that we spend the extra $20 for the .org site, Smiley 2nd. MC. There are links to info about the Young Drivers Camp and the recent Three Gaits show on the DDC website.

Newsletter – cost about $50 for printing and mailing, since lots of people get it online. There were 12 pages or 6 double-sided pages. There were lots of people that contributed to the last edition. The next newsletter will come out in September. Upcoming edition will have info about the Young Drivers Camp, Roger and Dana Houk will have their camera for photos for the newsletter of the Lannon drive in August, as Jane can’t be there, and there will be some articles from the Carriage Assn. of  America (CAA).

Young Drivers Camp – Loren Gettelman reported that he felt that it was great and would do it again in a heartbeat. We had one glitch with housing for adults, and one pony that decided that she didn’t want to work. The mentors all said that they had a great time. There are a number of options for the next camp with DDC on the three-year rotation.

Midwest Horse Fair: Haviza moved that we will have a booth again, Gettelman 2nd.   Gettelmans will plan and set up the booth. We are looking for lights for the booth.

2010 Clinic – Donna Crossman reported that we can have the clinician either do a group discussion in the morning and 45 min. individual lessons in the afternoon, or have 45 min. individual lessons all day. She talked with Jeff Morse, and discussed terms. He will not take reservations for dates before Sept. Donna also contacted Muffy Seaton who will do eight lessons a day. Andy Marcoux has not contacted Donna back yet, but his website is pretty self-explanatory for his clinics. Haviza suggested Barb Chapman for Donna to contact.

Drives – Roger Houk reported that the Lannon drive will be the 16th of August.   Walking Iron 27th of September. Peggy Peregrine-Spear has a print of the Radtkes that she would donate for the Harry Radtke Memorial Drive on Oct. 4 at Didier’s.  It is up to the DDC board as to how to use the print. We need to be better organized at collecting Coggins tests for the drives, by having a designated person to collect Coggins.

NCDCA update: They requested that the $500 that we had in escrow be returned to put on their Midwestern conference coming in 2011.

DDC Life Memberships: Roger Houk reported that there is a large range of costs between clubs. Some clubs have as much as $1200. There seems to be a figure of the annual fee times ten, assuming that people are members of the club for ten years on average. There was another idea for a 3-yr. membership. The membership can be kept track of with a spreadsheet. We need to add this to the Annual Meeting agenda. Donna will email other clubs to see if they have a Lifetime Membership option.

Membership booklet: Nancy Nelson may have been working on a nicely formatted document for a booklet off the website. Jane Licht redid the one that she has already on the website.

New Business:

DDC Brochure:  We are working on redoing the promotional brochure. There were a couple of samples passed around for examples.

Houk moved that the meeting be adjourned at 9:00 p.m. Smiley 2nd. MC.

Next meeting will be at Licht’s, Sept. 15th at 6:00 p.m. Donna will bring main dish. Roger will bring dessert.

Respectfully submitted,
Myrna Rhinehart, Secretary
