2010 DDC Board of Directors

The Dairyland Driving Club Board of Directors meets every 2 months at member homes.  Meetings are generally the first Tuesday of February, April, June, August, October and December.

Board member Roger Houk

Roger Houk lives in Eagle with his wife Dana.  Roger has served as the Pleasure Drives coordinator and was our 25th Anniversary Chairperson in 2008.  Roger often receives very competent assistance for horse events from Dana.  Roger has a Morab mare and they enjoy team penning, Old World Wisconsin Drives, DDC Drives, distance driving and the breed demos at the Midwest Horse Fair.  Roger and Dana both volunteer at the DDC booth at the Midwest Horse Fair.

VICE PRESIDENT:  Sheri Haviza, 262-473-1142

Sheri Haviza lives near Whitewater, Wisconsin with her hubbie Richard, their Great Pyrenees dogs, various cats, and some driving horses.  Sheri also raises Parrotlets and Lineolated Parrots that help offset the financial burden of her horse habits.  Sheri has been competing for 6 yrs with Jax,  a Welsh/TB cross.  She is excited about her recent project Sami,  a 4 yr old Foundation Morgan, who has just started his driving career.  Sheri has learned many valuable lessons  from the wonderful, sharing members of the Dairyland and the Hub Club.  She now serves as our Vice-Chair and co-chair of the Member Clinic.  Visit Sheri's website at http://www.glacierfarm.com/

 Myrna Rhinehart lives near Reedsburg with husband Chad and son Kyle. They have several mini horses plus a Pinto Arabian gelding and a young Dutch Harness/Arabian mare. Chad and Myrna build their own carriages and now build customized carriages for others. They enjoy showing at carriage classics, combined driving events, fun shows, and DDC drives. They also enjoy helping others get started in carriage driving.  Myrna serves as Secretary on the DDC Board and she chaired the Wisconsin ADS Young Drivers Camp organizing committee in 2009.

 Nancy Nelson lives with her husband on an acreage near Westfield, Wisconsin, where she raises Welsh ponies and miniature horses and donkeys.  Nancy enjoys pleasure driving and also navigating and grooming for friends at combined driving events and carriage classics.  She joined Dairyland Driving Club about 2000 and became the editor of the Coachman in 2005, serving in that capacity for three years and bringing professional quality to the publication.  Nancy had owned and operated a graphic design business for 30 years and now assists her husband with his business when she is not playing with her ponies.  Nancy serves as our Treasurer.

DRIVES & SAFETY:  Dr. Jennifer Thompson, 608-592-6316

Jennifer Thompson, DMV, grew up in the Madison, Wisconsin area and has owned horses since she was 11 years old.  She lives on a farm near Lodi with 4 horses, 2 dogs, and 3 cats.  Babe, a Belgian draft horse, and Jennifer can be found competing in pleasure driving shows and on DDC pleasure drives.  Jennifer volunteered to instruct the participants of the ADS Midwest Young Drivers' Camp about conditioning the driving horse and the basic physical exam of the horse.  To support her addiction to horses, she became an equine veterinarian.  She has been employed by the Lodi Veterinary Hospital since 2000. 

DRIVES & SAFETY:  Debi Radtke, 608-592-6316

Debi Radtke lives on a farm in Eagle. She owns four horses, all of which have been trained to drive. Pietje, a Friesian mare, her daughter, Rayna, Dove a ¾ Friesian Sport Horse, and an English Shire named Sugar Baby. Debi also has a goat named Dog (Debi’s Oklahoma Goat) who sleeps next to her bed at night and spends his days with Sugar Baby. Debi and Pietje attend a few shows but Debi’s real love is spending time on the trails. Debi has been a Dairyland member since 1997. Through activities with the club she has learned enough about driving to know there is always more to learn.

Loren Gettelman lives near Hartford with his wife Marge and their son Tony.  After retiring his beloved Trojan, Loren has been driving his young Morgan gelding at carriage classics, fun shows and on DDC drives.  He also has a part-draft horse that he lends to his young neighbor to drive, and 11 year-old granddaughter Jasmine gets to drive Loren's mini horse.  In addition to his regular job, Loren builds horse-drawn road carts for people.  Loren and Marge set up the DDC booth at the Midwest Horse Fair every year.  Loren serves as our Historian

Jane Licht lives near McFarland with her husband Wes who were both founding members of DDC.  Wes and Jane own 10 Morab horses and all except 2 young ones are trained to ride and drive, with Wes doing the training.  Jane helps with breeding mares to their stallion and she enjoys working with the babies.  She also enjoys taking photographs and writing stories for various publications.  Jane serves as the Coachman editor and the Webmaster for Dairyland Driving Club, Inc.  In 2007, Jane retired from serving as the Dane County Register of Deeds.  Visit her website at www.rockingLacres.com
